Bauer Challenge Cup
The Bauer Challenge Cup was the last tournament of the season for the Peewee Preds.
So ... after everyone filled themselves with turkey dinner and good cheer we were off to Buckingham Arena for the weekend.
Game #1 was a hard fought battle with the Mississauga Senators. It appeared we had a little Christmas hangover and couldn't find the back of the net though, losing this close battle 1-0. (MVP for this game Ayden Dooley)
Game #2 later that day was against the Toronto Nationals. It looked good early on with Ty Collins capitalizing on a shot that squeaked under the Nationals goalie. But this is how the game would remain until Toronto pulled their goalie late in the game and the Preds managed to come up with 2 empty netters by Mountain and Dooley. Augimeri got the shut out. (MVP for this game Noah Mountain)
Game #3 was a great game against the 67's from Ottawa. They were a tough team who battled hard for the puck every shift but we matched their efforts that game. Scotty made some key saves in net keeping the team within reach. This game ended in a draw 2-2 with 2 sweet breakaway goals by Smitty. (MVP for this game Ryan Smith)
Game #4 had the team against the #3 ranked Oakville Rangers. We ended up on the losing side of this 3-1 game but this team has shown that they can play with any team. (MVP for this game Ian Lemieux)
Not a bad showing for the guys as they had several players who were not feeling well. They finished this tournament only allowing 6 goals in 4 games.
