Predators have 6 point weekend
With just one week left before Christmas the Kelsey's Orillia North Central Minor Midget Predators were looking to check 3 more victories off their Christmas wish list.  Friday Dec 18th the Central Ontario Wolves were the visiting team looking to take 2 points from the Predators.

hockey_central_ontario_wolves.gifThe Predators came out strong and were rewarded with an early goal.  Midway through the period North Central once again found the back of the net giving them a 2-0 lead going into the second.  The fast pace of the first period was slowed down by several penalties in the second giving both teams opportunities on the power play.  The Predators power play was successful on one of its chances and the Predators penalty kill was just as successful, killing off all the Wolves odd man chances.  A late goal gave the Predators a commanding 4-0 lead entering the final period.  The 3rd period was an even slower pace than the second as the visiting Wolves did everything in their power to throw the home team off their game.  The Predators withstood all attempts from Central Ontario to get back in the game and a late Predators goal would seal the Wolves fate with the final score North Central Predators 5 Central Ontario Wolves 0. With the shutout going to goaltender Jared Towns.

With a weekend victory already checked off their list the Kelsey's Orillia North Central Minor Midget Predators hockey_yse.jpgheaded to Aurora to take on the #1 team in Ontario, the York-Simcoe Express.  The first period was a little one-sided in favor of the Express however  their dominance was not reflected on the scoreboard.  After being outshot 9-2 it was the Predators who took a slim 1-0 into the first intermission.

The second period was much more even and both teams exchanged several quality scoring chances.  After 35 minutes of hockey the score still remained 1-0 in favor of the visiting Predators.  The third period was much like the second with neither team taking control.  With 5 minutes to go in the period North Central found the back of the net and went up by a score of 2-0.  The final moments were tense as York-Simcoe pushed hard to get back in the game. Some soild defence, great netminding and a few lucky bounces held the Express at bay.  A last minute empty net goal by the Predators made the final, North Central Predators 3 York Simcoe Express 0. The shutout going to netminder Brody Read.

hockey_oshawa.jpgThe Kelsey's Orillia North Central Minor Midget Predators traveled to Oshawa to take on the Oshawa Generals on Monday Dec21st.  It was just 2 weeks ago that the last place Generals gave the Predators a scare at the ETA showcase when the Generals had a 4-3 lead late in the game only to give up 2 late goals and allow North Central to narrowly escape with a 1 goal victory.  The Generals were the only thing standing between the Predators and 9 consecutive wins and another 6 point weekend. With the previous Oshawa game fresh on their minds the Predators came out with enthusiasm.  Just 10 minutes into the game some dominant play had North Central leading the Generals by a score of 4-0.  In the second period the Predators enjoyed the warm seat of the penalty box more than once and after repeated attempts the Oshawa Generals were able to capitalize. The score after 2 periods was North Central 4 Oshawa 1.  The Predators from the first period returned again in the third and 22 third period shots by North Central resulted in 3 more goals. Spectacular netminding from the Oshawa goaltender turned away several high quality Predators chances and the score at the final buzzer was North Central Predators 7  Oshawa Generals 2.

The Kelsey's Orillia North Central Minor Midget Predators will put their 9 game winning streak on the line when they head to the annual Toronto Marlies Holiday Classic Tournament beginning Boxing day.  The Predators will be 1 of 50 Minor Midget teams looking to crowned tournament champions.

The North Central Minor Midget Predators wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and would like to thank their sponsors for all their contributions and support.  Be sure to come out and cheer on the Predators in their chase for the OHL cup.  The Predators will next be at home on Sun Jan 3rd at 2:45pm at the Mask in Rama looking to improve on their 18-7-1 league record.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
