The Kelsey's North Central Predator Minor Midgets participated in the Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic over the Christmas break. The team was matched against some stiff competition but performed well and showed determination battling teams including the 1st place team in Ontario the Mississauga Rebels.
"On the first day of Christmas the boys had to play" the Windsor Spitfires. The boys battled hard against the Spitfires and after one the game was tied at one. Windsor came on strong in the second and the Preds found themselves down 3-1 going into the third period. The boys gave it their all but in the end came up a little short falling 4-3 to their opponents.
"On the second day of Christmas the boys had to play" number 1 seat in Ontario the Mississauga Rebels followed by the number 12 ranked York Simcoe Express. Both games were entertaining and boys showed well. After 2 periods in the game against the Rebels the contest was far from decided with the Rebels holding a 2-1 lead. The arsenal of weapons that Rebels have finally overcame the boys in the third as the final score ended at 5-2 for the Rebels.
"On the third day of Christmas the boys had a victory!" Playing the Boston Advantage who had previously taken down the YSE the boys played a solid three periods and finished the tournament on a high note beating the team from south of the border 3-1. The game was very close for it's entirety and was only decided after the Preds popped in an empty net goal late in the third.
Overall a very exciting and gutsy performance by the boys. Go Preds!!!
