And they're off...
The 2016-2017 season is finally underway and the minor peewees have demonstrated that they are ready to take on new challenges.
After playing 3 exhibition games and concluding their early bird tournament at the Bell Sensplex in Ottawa this past weekend, their level of play has taken a small step in the right direction. Keeping most of their games close and competitive, the boys are well aware of what they need to do to win.
Our exhibition games were exciting and close, but some lack of focus and endurance in third periods caused unnecessary penalties and an inability to hold, or take the lead and end up on top.
Ottawa, proved that we need to focus on the execution of plays, significantly decreasing the number of penalties, and our need to be able capitalize on scoring opportunities, which again caused us to lose a hard fought lead or generate some offense.
All in all, it has been a positive start to the season, even though we haven't seen a "W" on the scoreboard as yet.
Regular season commences this weekend against some big competition - Barrie and York Simcoe Express.
