Turning the Corner
The Elmvale Home Building Centre Major Atom AAA Predators not only turned the page this past weekend on the Calendar but also welcomed their first W for the season.
This past weekend had us in back to back home games Saturday and Sunday facing the Markham Waxers followed by the Oshawa Generals.
Saturday found us once again playing a division rival in the Markham Waxers. Markham came out strong and scored a quick goal early in the first period they would net a second goal before the period ended. Both teams would exchange goals in the 2nd period making it a 3-1 lead for the Waxers. The third period would see both teams battle hard however no one was able to find the twine and the game would end with Markham taking the 2 points.
Sunday would find two teams both hungry to find the Win column early in the season with the Oshawa Generals visiting the Rama arena. The first period would find both teams came ready to play and battled hard to take the early lead. The first would end deadlocked at 0-0. The Predators would finally find the back of the net within the first minute of the second period. Oshawa would not give up and continued to battle hard tying the game before the end of the period. NCP would once again score a quick goal to start the third by driving hard to the net and putting pressure on the goalie. We would add another goal @ the 6 minute mark of the 3rd period to take a 3-1 lead. The Generals would pull the goalie in the dying minutes of the third period and would find the back of the net making it a one goal hockey game. North Central would hold their ground and conserve the lead to take a 3-2 win.
The season is still young and we continue to work hard and see improvements game by game.
