Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest
This past weekend the Elmvale Home Building Centre Major Atom AAA Predators participated in the 44th annual Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest Atom tournament.

We faced off against the Grey Bruce Highlanders to kick-off the tournament on Friday morning.  Grey Bruce would come out strong in the first period looking to try and take an early lead in the game.  NCP would be the first team to find the back of the net, only to have the Highlanders tie the game just over a minute later.  We would quickly regain the lead 18 seconds later to end the period with the 2-1 lead.  The second period would find both teams exchange chances with neither team finding the back of the net.  North Central would take a 2 goal lead early in the second and hold on to win the game 3-2.

We would find ourselves playing against the Brantford 99ers in our second game of the tournament.  We would play a strong game and face a hot goalie that had lady luck on his side.  Brantford would take a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period where they would finalize the scoring by adding an empty net goal to take the game 3-0.

Saturday would find us playing against one of the host teams in the Waterloo Wolves.  This would prove to be a physical game with both teams getting into penalty trouble.  Waterloo would capitalize on the Power Play in both the first and second period to take a 2-0 lead.  This lead would not phase our players and we would score two power play goals of our own to tie the game late in the 3rd period.  The game would remain tied 2-2 after a hard battled game.

The London Jr. Knights would round out the competition for the Predators in the round robin.  We would find ourselves playing against one of the highest rated teams in the province.  The first period would have both teams trying to feel out their opponent.  North Central would take the lead within the first minute of the second period.  We would hold off our opponent till late in the 2nd when London would finally find a way to get the puck behind our goaltender.  London would find a way to score 3 quick goals within the first 3 1/2 minutes of the third period which would conclude the scoring in the game.

We should all be proud and hold our heads high with the way we played over the course of the tournament.

Keep up the great progress !!!!
