Oshawa Challenge Tournament
The Second Century Source for Sports Minor Atom AAA Predators headed to Oshawa to start the New Year taking part in the Oshawa Challenge.

Game one on Thursday seen the team take on Ajax Pickering, the team worked and battled hard but would fall just short losing a 4-2 decision.

Our second game had us up against the Quinte Red Devils, although the game would end in a 5-0 loss the score was not a reflection of how close the game was for through the first 2 periods.

Game three matched us up with the Toronto Young Nats from the GTHL, the boys came to play and moved the puck around well, won loose puck battles and played a great defensive game. The result from the hard work and team work was a 4-0 shutout victory.

Game four had us taking on the host from Oshawa; some unfortunate bounces had us trailing 4-0 after the first period even though our team had the play in there end for most of the first.  The final score would end up 10-2.

Sunday morning it was time for the Semi-finals and a chance for some redemption against the host team from Oshawa. The team came out fired up and pressured them from the start and they continued to build upon that all game as the confidence grew you could tell they were not going to take their foot of the gas. We were able to avenge the loss from the previous day with a 4-2 win and head off to the championship game.

The championship game on Sunday afternoon had everyone excited. The team was able to take a 1-0 lead on a tough team from Quinte but they would tie it quickly.  Quinte was able to get another goal late in the second and take a 2-1 lead into the third. Our boys would have some chances to tie it in the third but were unable to get another one past the goalie.  Quinte would add 2 late goals and win 4-1.

The team should be very pleased with their result this weekend and will hopefully be able to take what they learned with them this weekend and apply it to the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
