The Kelsey’s Minor Midget
Predators were excited to kick off the 2018/19 season facing the best teams in
the 2003 age group. The top teams from
Ontario and the US came together for the 11th Annual Toronto Titans
Prospects Tournament held in North Toronto.
The Preds were in a pool with some strong teams, which included the US Finalist, from a year ago, the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite. During the round robin portion of the tournament the Preds flexed a little muscle going 3-0, including two shutouts while scoring 11 goals over those 3 games. They went into their final round robin game against the Penguins with momentum and stayed right with the powerful team from Pittsburgh eventually losing that game 4-1.
With their record at 3-1 the Preds had to wait to hear from tournament organizers to see if they would qualify for the elimination part of the tournament, the Sweet 16. Once they received the official word the players showed up ready to battle as they were stacked up against the eventual Tournament Finalists, Chicago Mission. The game was a back and forth game for much of the first 2 periods with the Preds closing the gap on several occasions. The Chicago Mission proved to be too strong and skated away with a 6-3 victory, 3 goals against was the most they gave up in a game the entire tournament.
The success at this tournament is a result of hard work.
