The Kelsey’s Minor Midget
Predators were very honored to have been invited to take part in the OHL’s
Battle of the Border which was held in Windsor November 9-11, 2018.
The Preds knew they were going to be in tough when the game schedule released. They were slated to play the number 1 team Chicago Mission as well as 2 top 10 ranked teams, according to the Hockey Rankings. As always, the Preds went into this challenge with their heads held high and faced it head on with confidence.
Game 1 against the Oakland Grizzlies was arguably their best most complete game of the season. Although they came up short and eventually losing by 1, they felt that they set a new standard in terms of level of play. Game 2 pitted them against the Detroit Compuware team that, in hindsight, is probably the best team they have faced all season. Compuware is a complete team who forced the preds to raise their game again, they responded well but did end up losing. Game 3, vs. Chicago Mission (Ranked #1), was again a game that the Preds had their compete level at the highest. Keeping it close for half the game they eventually succumbed to the relentless attack of a strong Mission team.
The success of this tournament cannot be measured in the score, but in the realization that they can skate with the best.
Go Preds Go!
