First wins of the season! - Peterborough games note submitted by Nicholas Lancione, defense.

Boston Pizza Icefest Tournament in Peterborough

Game 1 – Guelph Gryphons (4-8 L)

The Major Bantam (04s) had a tough battle against Guelph in game 1.  The team needs to work harder and pick up a man in front of the net, increase the number of shots and be better on the break out. The boys need to be more physical, hit more and stay out of the penalty box. Robbie did a great job at carrying the puck down the ice and scoring 4 goals for the Preds.

Game 2 – Ottawa Myers (4-0 W) Great game! We skated hard, shot the puck repeatedly, won battles and played as a team.  Super teamwork and awesome goaltending earned Webb a shutout. GO PREDS GO!

Game 3 – Cambridge Hawks (2-0 W) Another great game played by the Preds.  The team worked together and battled the whole game without stopping. We didn’t give up in the third period; we played as hard as we did in the first and the result was another shutout for Webb!

Game 4 – Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (0-2 L) Slow start this morning for the boys.  We didn’t play as hard as we could have and we got caught.  Areas to work on include ensuring our passes are better, and getting our shots through.

Game 5 – Burlington Eagles (1-2 L) The boys played hard this game and battled every shift.  Passes were good and we kept Burlington in their zone. Our power play was great and this was one of our better games. Burlington caught us at the end, breaking the tie with less than 2 minutes left.

Overall, we had a good weekend. There are many positive moments we can look back on and build from. Congratulations Major Bantam Preds!

Nicolas Lancione
