Game Notes for Kitchener Tournament- Nov 9,10&11

Game 1 Vs. Kitchener Rangers:

The boys had a great game. Pretty solid effort by everyone. We got off to a slow start, but as the game progressed, the boys started to take control of the game. Mitchell had a good game in goal recording a shutout. Late in the third period Brady scored on a beautiful tip, on a shot from the point, sending the puck over the goalies glove to make the game 1-0. NCP was able to keep the lead, scoring their first win of the tournament, 1-0 FINAL.

Game 2 Vs. Toronto Jr. Nationals:

The boys got off to another slow start, letting the Nats take control of the game. They scored an early goal, but we kept on going. We had many shots throughout the the game and played very defensively. However, the boys couldn't get a bounce and could not find the back of the net. We hit two post on wonderful opportunities by Matthew and Logan. Both goalies played fantastic, taking turns making big saves. Midway through the game, it started to get rough and chippy. Many fights occurred which led to multiples ejections for the other team. NCP maintained our sportsmanship throughout. The Nats scored a late goal to finish the game at 2-0.

Game 3 Vs. Buffalo Saints Hockey Club:

We didn't have our best of games, slowing down and played down to this team’s level of play. It was a slow game but we were able to make some good plays. We scored our first goal off a rush by Brady, Matt and Donald. They are able to snag a beautiful pass, which allowed Matt to put the puck into a wide open net. We scored again early in the second to give us a 2-0 lead. The boys slacked off a bit near the end of the game which let Buffalo score 2 quick goals to tie it up. By this point though, we gained back our momentum. We were out playing our oppointent but just couldn't buy a goal, until “The Chief”, Christian Cooper was able to find they back of the net off of a wicked shot from the slot to win the game for the boys. Final NCP won 2-1.

Game 4 Vs. Oakville Rangers:

The rangers came out flying and our boys could not keep up. We were tired from our previous games and were not used to this intensity of play, so it took the boys a while to finally lock in. Throughout the game the boys finally started to get some great chances here and there, but could not keep the pressure up throughout the whole game. Oakville too had many goal scoring chances but our goalie Ben, turned down many of them, making some remarkable saves. Unfortunately we hung Ben out to dry, again, allowing them to score 3 goals. It was a tough game for the boys getting shutout 3-0, but now we now what to expect and what we need to improve on. Losing the game gave us a tournament record of 2-2 which wasn't enough to move on. The boys had a fun weekend picking up two wins and are ready to take that to regular season next weekend.

Thank you to our AP players Dylan and Daniel for making the trip to Kitchener to help out our team!
