16th Annual September AAA Shootout
The Elmvale Home Building Centre North Central Predators Minor Peewee team participated in the 16th Annual September AAA Shootout this past weekend.

Friday morning we kicked off the tournament playing the host team Kanata Blazers.  North Central would come out strong in the first period controlling the play.  Both teams would exchange chances in the second period yet no one would find the back of the net.  Kanata would strike first in the third period and later adding the insurance goal to take the win 2-0.  North Central had a strong showing in the game and would enter game two Friday night vs Ottawa Valley Silver Seven looking to put up a win.  The first two periods would see both teams once again exchanging opportunities and yet neither team was able to score.  Ottawa Valley would score a goal in the third period which would prove to be the difference winning the game 1-0.
The Predators hungry to put the puck in the net and looking for their first win of the tournament would find themselves playing against the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings.  It would not take long before the Predators would find the back of the net in the first period.  We would add a second goal before the end of the first period to take a 2-0 lead.  The Kings would battle back and score a goal in the second to shorten the lead 2-1.  North Central and Rideau St. Lawrence would exchange goals in the third sealing the first victory for NCP 3-2.  The fourth and final game in round robin had the Preds playing the Gloucester Rangers.  North Central would once again find the back of the net early in the first period.  The Rangers would battle back and score two quick goals to take the lead 2-1.  NCP would battle back and tie the game before the end of the period.  The Predators would score the go ahead goal and eventual game winner in the second period.  We would add an insurance marker in the third period to seal the victory 4-2.  Despite the strong finish we would find ourselves in a 3 way tie with Gloucester and Hamilton for the 6th and final spot for the quarter finals.  Based on Goal Differential in the round robin Gloucester would find themselves moving on.  We should all be proud of how we played and competed in each and every game of the tournament.  We could see improvements in play in each and every game that was played.  We now have a few practices this week in preparation for our home opener vs the Barrie Jr. Colts Friday night in Rama.
