Official Start of the 2018-2019 Regular Season
The Elmvale Home Building Centre North Central Predators Minor Peewee team officially got things under way this weekend.  Playing host to a West division rival in the Barrie Colts on Friday night, followed by our first road game down Hwy 12 to face the Whitby Wildcats.

Friday nights game vs. the Barrie Colts would be the first regular season game for both clubs.  Wanting to set the right tone for a good season both clubs would come out playing strong.  Barrie would take the early lead 30 seconds into the game.  This would not phase North Central who would quickly respond 11 seconds later to tie the game.  The Predators would continue to push hard and score the go ahead goal late in the first to take the 2-1 lead.

The second period would find both teams exchange chances with Barrie finding the back of the net late in the period to tie the game 2-2.  North Central knew that they would need to come out strong in the 3rd period in order to have the momentum switch back into their favor.  The team came out strong and scored a quick goal in the 3rd period to once again take the lead 3-2.  The Preds would continue to battle hard and would find the back of the net once again to take a two goal lead 4-2.  Barrie would pull their goalie late in the game in a push to try and tie the game.  Barrie would manage to score a late goal with only 15 seconds remaining to make it 4-3.  North Central would hold their ground and close out the game with the 4-3 win.

Saturday would find the Minor Pewee team headed to Whitby with a big win under their belt to start the season from the night before looking for much of the same.  Whitby playing in their first game of the season in front of their home crowd wanted to come out strong as well.  The first period would find both teams battling hard to try and score that first goal to set the tone of the game, however we would find ourselves in a deadlock 0-0 tie to end the first.  The Predators would score first in the early part of the second period.  Whitby did not let that goal distract them and quickly tied the game less than 30 seconds later.  The period would once again see both teams exchange chances with no one being able to find the back of the net.  We would head into the 3rd period all tied at 1.  The Wildcats hungry for their first win would score an early goal in the period to take their first lead in the game.  Whitby continued to apply pressure scoring another goal to take a 3-1 lead early in the 3rd period.  The Wildcats would not hold up and continue to forecheck strong finding the back of the net a couple more times to take the win 5-1.

The team will be working hard this week in preparation of a couple home games next weekend vs. Central Ontario & Quinte looking to get back into the Win column.

Go Preds Go !!!!
