The Cup North American Championship 2019
The Elmvale Home Building Centre North Central Predators Minor Peewee team travelled to Buffalo, NY this past weekend to participate in the Cup North American Championship.

This tournament has attracted teams from all over North America with a total of 34 teams at the Minor Peewee age group participating in the tournament this year.  This tournament would offer the team the possibility of playing against new teams which we would typically not see on a regular basis within our ETA loop.

The North Central Predators would be included in a division along with Sylvania North Stars, Alaska All Stars, Brantford 99ers and the Toronto Titans.  The tournament would get underway Friday morning with a game vs. the Sylvania North Stars.  We competed well in the first game of the tournament, however we would end up falling to Sylvania by a score of 6-2.  The team pulled the goalie late in the game with the score 4-2 and the North Stars would find the empty net on two occasions before the end of the game.

In game 2 of the round robin we would find ourselves facing the Alaska All Stars.  Both teams coming off losses in the opening game and wanting to bounce back would battle hard.  North Central would take a good lead 4-1 late in the third period.  Alaska would continue to battle and score a couple late period goals to reduce the lead to 4-3.  The Predators would battle hard and hold off the come back finding the win in game 2 by a score of 4-3.

Saturday morning would have us with an early start vs. the Brantford 99ers.  We would compete well once again in the game, however find ourselves on the wrong side of the scoresheet with a 4-1 final.  The final game within the round robin would have us facing the Toronto Titans.  Both teams would be coming into the final game with identical records of 1 win and 2 losses.  Both teams wanting to finish the round robin series strong would battle it out.  Toronto would end up taking a 4-2 lead before North Central would battle back late in the 3rd period to come away with a 4-4 tie.

The tournament was an excellent opportunity for our team to face new competition from all regions including the Alaska All Stars.  We now head into a week with a busy schedule and a few important games vs. divisional rivals.

We should all be proud of the way the team has played and represented the organization over the course of the weekend.
