North Central Predators in Kitchener for Oktoberfest

What a great weekend for the North Central Predators Major Atoms! The team traveled to Kitchener October 19th with expectations to work on new game plans and team bonding. The team was successful in achieving their expectations this weekend.

The team played their best against some very tough competitors.

Their first game of the tournament was against the Huron Perth Lakers. Predators battled hard until the end, but the Lakers walked away with a 4-1 win. Our goal was scored by Denes, and assisted by Carlson. Defending our net was goaltender Brown.

The second game of the day was against the Rochester Monarchs. Predators were not going to walk away this time without a win. The first period Predators took the lead. Skating strong, not giving the Monarchs a chance. Goal scored by Watson-Flucker, assisted by Cipolla. The second period we were going to show the Monarchs we meant business and scored 3 more goals by Diver, Carlson, Watson-Fluker. But the Monarchs started to fight back finishing the second period 4-1. Predators went into the 3rd period forcing the puck into the offensive end sending 5 more pucks past the Monarchs by Doner, Bardens, Murphy, Hergaarden, and Denes. Predators allowed 2 quick goals, but still remained on top with a 9-3 victory finishing Friday on a high note. Goaltending by Mackey.

Saturday morning going into our 3rd game of the tournament, we were up against the Hamilton Huskies. Our team came out strong, outskating, out working and out shooting. Working hard in the zone and playing a strong defensive 1st period. Brown was solid between the pipes and never gave the Huskies a chance.  Second period scoreboard showed a 1-1 tie with Watson-Fluker putting up our first mark. In the top of the 3rd period, Predators were ahead 2-1 goal scored by Doner. But the Huskies were one step ahead of us in the end scoring 2 more goals. Predators finishing a close battle with a 3-2 loss.

The final game of the tournament, Predators were not going to make it easy for the Burlington Jr. Cougars. Fantastic goaltending by Mackey, as he stood on his head in net. With the steady and physical defence, and use of space and offensive thinking the predators held back the Jr. Cougars with all there might by Geere, Buchanan, Cippola, Emerton, Hedges and Murphy. The forwards played a big part of the Predators defensive game in the offence with a great mix of talent by Davidson, Hergaarden, Bardens, Watson-Fluker, Doner, Diver, Denes, and Carlson.

The Jr. Cougars got the win with a 4-1 final score.

All in all, the team played very well. We came home with great accomplishments improving team play, and bonding. Having so much fun. out to dinner and a movie and a great scavenger hunt at the hotel. Great job to all Coaches, Players and Parents for fulfilling their important roles in making our team one.
