Oshawa Challange 2018-19
Tournament of memories to be treasured forever.

A strong weekend highlights the success of the 2008 Major Atoms.

The 2008 Predators came into the Tournament strong at the Oshawa Generals Annual Challenge, Friday January 4, 2019. The first game of the day they faced the Generals on their home ice. The Predators were bound and determined to make sure the Generals felt pressure. Solid contribution from every player resulted in the first win of the day! Predators left feeling confident with a 7-2 win.

As the day went on and after a team lunch the boys prepared for there next battle. The Toronto Young Nationals came with a ton of heart and battled hard, making our offence and defence skate in the second period.  Predators were able to claim undefeated on the Friday winning 8-3 against the Toronto Young Nationals, for the second win of the day.

Saturday the boys came in feeling good and ready to play, only to find a very strong York Simcoe Express. Our Predators gave effort, but we were no match to this team. YSE took the win with a 0-6 loss for the Predators.

The boys put the wheels back on the cart as the showed up Saturday afternoon with determination. The team set out to work, and work they did. We out worked and out played the Burlington Cougars and battled right until the bitter end of the game. The Cougars had dynamite players that had us all on the edge of our seats. But with great team efforts the boys went home feeling accomplished rewarded by the benefits of their hard work. The Predators finished the day with a 5-3 win.

Sunday Morning bright and early the team gathered at the rink for the semi finals and ready to play a different game against the York Simcoe Express. At 8:15 the puck dropped and it could have been anyone game. Predators determined to play a different game they were able to place the first goal up on the board. The game was physical and full of energy all hands on deck came out right from the start of the game. Emerging into the game YSE gained the lead, but the Predators were able to catch their second wind bringing the score back up and keeping the puck in the other end. It was a race against the clock. Literally if we had just one second longer it could would have been a different score. The game was a real nail bitter. The entire team played an excellent game but sadly lost 3-4. YSE continued on the finals winning the tournament. We can proudly say we tried our best and had fun in doing so.

The weekend was a reflection of the teams continuous improvements. A big success and a step in the right direction. The team will continue to work hard and complete their regular season in preparation for playoffs.
