Date of Birth: Jan 28 1994
Hometown: Orillia, Ontario
Position: Center with the 2011 – 2012 OHL Kingston Frontenacs
Spencer started his hockey career with the Orillia Minor Hockey Association where he was a key member of the 2003 Novice A OMHA Lobster Cup Championship team and the 2006 OMHA Pewee A Championship Finalists.
He played 4 1/2 seasons with the North Central Predators AAA Hockey
Association (Atom, Minor Bantam, Bantam, Minor Midget and 1/2 season of Midget). The Bantam and Minor Midget teams qualified for the OMHA AAA Playoffs.
In May of 2010, Spencer was taken 8th round, 150th overall in the OHL Priority Draft by the Kingston Frontenacs.
At 6’ 0”, 192 lbs, Spencer is currently playing with the OHL Kingston Frontenacs, enjoying his OHL experience and the opportunity to play amongst the top players in North America. Spencer himself is a true centerman, who is able to just as easily dish the puck off to an open winger, as he is able to dent the twine himself. He is a two way player who covers all 200 feet of the ice as evident by his regular Frontenac penalty killing shifts. Spencer is a smart player with good vision of the ice and of the flow of the game. Historically, he had been a playmaker, always having more assists than goals and taking great satisfaction from his ability to draw the opposition away from his teammates only to provide them with the pass for the shot and goal.
While playing within the OHL, Spencer has learned to play the game at a faster and stronger level, improving his skills along the way. Spencer has gained valuable insight and experiences over his years involved with the sport of hockey that have helped him excel. In working with past, present and future NHL players, as well as his involvement with his billet family and teammates in Kingston, Spencer’s decision to play in the OHL has resulted in an experience that he appreciates and finds rewarding.
Spencer is very proud to play in the OHL and is equally proud to tell fans everyone that his hometown is Orillia and played his entire minor hockey career within the confines of the North Simcoe area.
