NCOHA Announce Midget Coach
Submitted By RichF on Friday, April 12, 2013
The North Central Predators AAA Hockey Organization is pleased to announce Murray Lathem as the new Head Coach of their AAA Major Midget Hockey Club for 2013-2014 season. Murray brings extensive coaching experience at the Midget/Major Junior levels and is a certified Level 5 NCCP coach with an outstanding record of accomplishments.

His career has included Head Coaching positions with St. Michael’s College Jr. Buzzers, Toronto Marlboros and Toronto Jr. Canadians and built a number of competitive successful programs in the OMHA. He also has worked with draft age eligible players in Midget/ and professional development camps.

“The Midget AAA Predators team will be built around a structured competitive philosophy but one that incorporates an enjoyable learning environment” says Lathem.  “Our focus will be to energize the Midget AAA program in North Central into a competitive, hard working, disciplined hockey club.  The coaching staff will emphasize a “team first attitude” that blends on ice skill with individual character growth.”

As both a AAA and Junior level coach and mentor, Lathem has been fortunate to have a number of players who have graduated into the Ontaro Hockey League, NCAA and the National Hockey League.

“No question I have been witness to see a number players actually make it and stay in the NHL.  It took perseverance and hard work for them, and I will always look back at their development as a testament to the program that has been developed over the years.”

The Midget AAA Predators team is looking for players who are committed and dedicated to play at the AAA level.  Tryouts begin on April 18 at the Rama Arena.  All players should check the Predators website for dates and times

“Our team will be comprised of players that exhibit personal character, a high level of skill, and a solid educational acumen”.

There will be a Midget information session at Rama....7:30 pm, Monday, April 15. It will be hosted by NCOHA President Pat Morris and VP Rich Foshay where coach Lathem will be introduced, the midget program discussed and an overview of the recent OHF guidelines for Midget hockey shared.
