OMHA Update
Dear Association and League Presidents,The safety, health, and wellness of our participants has always been the foundation of our core values. This has never been more important given the situation we are currently all facing together.

This is an unprecedented situation for the OMHA, but also for the game in communities across our country.  On behalf of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, we share in your disappointment regarding the cancellation of the 2019-20 hockey season. Please understand that this decision was not made lightly, however, the health and well-being of all participants must take the priority. We invite you to take a moment to look back and reflect on your season - the wins and losses, team events, tournaments and most of all - playing the game we love with teammates and friends. We also want to recognize the tremendous efforts of all families, volunteers and administrators that go into making a successful hockey season. Without you, it simply doesn’t happen. Our game will move forward and times like this remind us of the value in community sport to create lifetime experiences and create the citizens and leaders of tomorrow. Moving forward will be a significant challenge – one of change – and we are planning for hockey to return and to be strong when we do. The OMHA remains fully operational and we are here to support you and your organizations. Our office is closed, however, our Board of Directors and staff are working remotely and as an organization we are engaging the use of available technology to meet virtually.Today we announced that the 2020 OMHA Annual General Meeting has been postponed until August 22 and we will also be communicating updated timelines and requirements based on the new date. Our collective challenge as leaders in the game is to forge ahead in this fluid and changing landscape. To do this, we will continue to engage with you to identify and create solutions to manage registration numbers. We may also need to look at a seasonal structure that is different than our traditional season. Making the game affordable may take on an even bigger consideration in this changing landscape. We will need to do this together. As much as we all love the game, we are reminded of the importance of family and friends and ensuring the health and safety of those around us.We look forward to seeing you back at the rink next season.Bob Hill, President | Ian Taylor, Executive Director
