The North Central Ontario Hockey Association "Predators" are ecstatic with the selection of Ethan as the OMHA "Player of the Year". "Ethan has been an invaluable member of our '06 birth year cohort for six years now and it has been exciting to watch Ethan grow as a hockey player and as a person.

We are exceptionally proud of this young man", says NCOHA President Roger Crandell. The OHL club who drafts him will get a complete hockey player. Ethan led the ETA in scoring with 26 goals and 26 assists in 27 games played, which was 9 points better than the second place scorer in the league, but his game has much more in it than putting points on the scoresheet. Head coach Dale Shannon comments, " Ethan is the hardest working player on the ice each night....his game is impactful on the full 200 foot ice surface. He is a quiet young man, but his work ethic and consistently excellent play has provided our club with tremendous leadership. It's been a pleasure to coach him."

The Ontario Hockey League's Priority Draft is scheduled for Friday, April 29. We look forward to hearing Ethan's name called early in the draft.

Another NCOHA player is also making some noise ahead of draft day. In a recent OHL news release entitled "Five to Watch", long time Predator d-man Nathan Schaap was highlighted this way by several scouts:

"Nathan is a big two-way defenceman that is physically ready to play with older players.  His skating is good and has improved considerably since the beginning of the season.   He has very good puck skills and composure with the puck, he isn’t afraid to hold onto the puck and take a hit to make a play.  He has a heavy shot from the point that he manages to get on net on a regular occasion.   He is solid defensively, uses his reach and size to separate the man from the puck. He is the leader of his team from the back end and plays in every situation. He has the potential to be a very effective two-way defender at the next level."

Our NCP Association continues to produce top OHL prospects....we wish all our current U-16 players well as the draft approaches.
