Predator Proud - Procyszyn Drafted to the NHL!
Wasaga Beach native Ethan Procyszyn, a long time member of our North Central Predator family heard his name called recently at "The Sphere" in Las Vegas by the Anaheim Ducks. The rangy and heavy hitting center iceman was selected in the third round, 68th overall in the NHL.
Predator's president Roger Crandell stated, "just a terrific accomplishment for Ethan and his family. Our organization is super proud of him!"
In the NHL draft guide produced leading up to the draft, Ethan was described this way:
"Procyszyn hits everything that moves, but always with a purpose. He uses contact to force attackers into the corner, to win battles emphatically and to create offence. There's no easy ice when he's out there; he goes out of his way to flatten, disrupt and annoy opponents. He deceives opponents to create shooting lanes, attacks the inside with speed and flashes the skill to pass through pressure." NHL DRAFT GUIDE
"From a very early age, everyone that watched Ethan play knew he was a special talent," comments NCP vice president Rich Foshay. In his U-13 year, his long time Pred's coach Dale Shannon, no stranger in recognizing NHL talent, noted that Ethan was the player from his club that he envisioned having long term success. In Ethan's U-16 draft year, he was selected as the OMHA "Player of the Year" after leading the OMHA East scoring race and playing a hard two way game. Later that spring, Ethan was taken in the first round by the North Bay Battalion, where Ethan continues to shine heading into his third OHL season.
Although a few years removed from his time with us here at NCP, Ethan is more than happy to show his Predator pride. Ethan heard that one of our Pred's youngest teams were playing in North Bay. Ethan attended the game and went into the locker room following to encourage the players to work hard and enjoy the sport with their friends. Our kids were thrilled that he did this!
On behalf of the Predator's organization we would like to congratulate Ethan on his NHL draft and wish him nothing but the best as he continues his hockey career. We are very proud of you Ethan!
Go Preds!!!!
