Our North Central U13 Predators have advanced to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Championship this coming weekend March 28-30 in Kingston, Ontario. This championship features the 8 best AAA teams in the OMHA Eastern and Western divisions. Our club qualified for this weekend after registering an impressive 8 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie record through the OMHA East playoffs highlighted by a sound 4-2 victory over the York Simcoe Express to claim first place in their pool.
This is the second time in the last three seasons that this group has represented North Central at the provincial championship weekend. Vice President Rich Foshay comments, "Head Coach Tobias Whelan is an elite coach. His ability to assess his team needs and at the same time develop each player is outstanding. Tobias always has the best interests of his team and each boy at the forefront of his decision making. He sees the big picture when it comes to player development. He has refused to sacrifice the development of a player for a short term goal....he is always forward thinking and makes decisions that have the long term best interests of his team and players at heart. Tobias is a former captain in the OHL....he understands the hockey journey and what players and teams need to succeed. His teams are always ready to play and his kids respond to him tremendously. The results of his club speak for themselves."
Foshay continued, "Tobias, his staff and players have created an incredible culture of success. We are never surprised at how well this team does. We wish the boys and staff all the best this weekend in Kingston!
