OMHA Championships

The Montana's Orillia PeeWee Predators season has come to an end with the wrap up of the OMHA Championships.

In round robin play, the Preds went 2-2.

Game 1, we took on the Whitby Wildcats.  Since they are in our loop, we have experience playing them and over the years, we haven't gotten the best of them too many times. The Preds were hoping that this would be a different outcome but unfortunately, we had 1 bad period and they made us pay.  We lost 7-1.  The player of the game for the Preds was Cole Patey!!

Game 2, we took on the Buffalo Regals.  It was a great game with lots of back and forth play but the Preds out scored them winning 4-3. Buffalo was a fast and big team but we kept up the them and the boys were able pull off a win. The player of the game for the Preds was Wade Monague!!

Game 3, was with the Niagara North Stars.  This was another tight game which resulted in a 4-3 loss. The Preds were all over the North Stars for a lot of the game but their goaltender was outstanding and definitely won them the game.  Our player of the game was Noah Collins!!

Game 4, we took on the home team, the Oakville Rangers.  This was a wild game with the opposing team player and coach being ejected.  It was definitely a hard fought battle on the ice and the Preds won it 4-3. Our player of the game was Tryston Pavis.

After all this was said and done, we were in a 3-way tie for 2nd place however we lost out on the gold medal game due to our plus/minus and head-to-head play.  The Preds were taking on the Niagara North Stars in the bronze medal game and this time, we were hoping for a different result.  The game was very close for the most part with us being very even teams.  The hockey Gods weren't on our side today as we lost 3-1 with an empty net goal.  We didn't get the bonces we needed and with the posts and open nets we missed, that was bound to happen.  The game was very physical and the rematch was exciting for sure! The player of the game was Nicholas Dowling!!

(Players of the game were picked by the opposing team bench staff.)

The competition at the OMHA Championships is obviously high and the Preds performed well.  It was a great weekend of hockey and our PeeWee Predators certainly made the organization, the fans and parents proud!  We had a great showing at the tournament and finished with a great game to lose the bronze medal.  4th place out of 23 teams, how amazing!!!

Until next year, thanks for a great season!!!
