The Mclean & Dickey Insurance Major Bantam
Predators had the pleasure of being invited to the International Silver
Stick Finals held in Port Huron Michigan.
This tournament hosts the top teams in Canada and the US. The 2018 version of the Major Bantam tournament was no exception to that rule.
The Preds started the tournament out playing a very tough team from Illinois and held on for the 4-2 victory. Next, they faced the York Simcoe Express, who they play regularly during the season, and cruised to 3-1 victory. The tournament got harder at they faced the Mid-Fairfield Rangers from Connecticut. The game was very close and went down to the last minute with our Preds holding on for an incredible 4-2 win. At this point being 3-0 in the tournament they simply needed a tie to move on the elimination rounds and in their way was the Chicago Mission. The game was close and saw the scoring go back and forth, along with the play. In the end, they lost 3-2 with a late 3rd period goal being the difference. The success of the tournament was not measured in the win loss column but in the fact that the Preds could compete with the top teams.
Over the next few months the team has all League play where the Preds are pushing to maintain their hold on 1st place in the ETA.
