39th Annual Big Nickel Tournament Champs
The Elmvale Home Building Centre North Central Predators Minor Peewee team travelled to Sudbury this past weekend to compete in the 39th annual Big Nickel Tournament and are coming home with Gold...
This would be the first time that the tournament offers a minor peewee division.
The Minor Peewee Predators would go 6-0 this past weekend only giving up two goals all tournament.
We kicked off the tournament facing the host team in the Sudbury Wolves winning the first game 1-0. Game two would find the Predators winning the game by the same margin 1-0 as they took on the Timmins North Stars.
Saturday morning we would get things started with a 2-1 win over the Nickel City Sons. We would once again take the 1-0 win this time over the North Bay Trappers securing 1st place in the round robin.
Sunday would find us facing once again the North Bay Trappers. We knew they would be hungry for revenge from the night before. North Central would battle hard and take the 3-1 win in the semi-final game. Timmins North Stars would defeat the Upper Ottawa Aces in the other semi final to gain birth into the finals vs. our Predators.
The Minor Peewee Predators hungry to come home with the Gold would come out strong and once again shut the door in the Championship game winning it 4-0.
The whole team should be proud of their hard work which paid off this weekend.
We now look forward to carrying the momentum of the tournament back into our regular season play next weekend.
Go Preds Go.
